Nature communicates...through different channels, shapes and forms. Sometimes, in the form of the gentle ripples of water...and sometimes through the rustling of the leaves of the trees. The sound of the wind brushing with everyone around can just not be missed. The image of the beautiful birds swimming and looking at you and coming close, as if they know you since ages, is a beautiful experience. For the full duration, I was there, this is exactly how I had felt. Some sort of communication...with everything around. A beautiful lake, an island inside the lake with a story and church on it, snow capped peaks around this lake, reflections of a fairy tale castle, swans wishing by as they swim and beautiful boats ferrying the lake without disturbing the swans...
The Bled island (Blejski Otok) is adorned with a beautiful church, built about four hundred years back, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The locals love to carry out weddings here. During the wedding, the groom is expected to carry the bride up the steps to ring the bell and make a wish inside the church. It is widely believed that this first wish of the newly weds, made inside the Church comes true.
On the lake, ferrying to and fro, one can trace beautifully designed wooden boats (traditionally known as Pletna). These boats carry a tradition and art form of more than 500 years old and are specifically handmade by experts. The only way (unless you want to swim, which I am not sure, if it qualifies as a good idea) to visit the Bled island is taking a boat ride on one of these boats.
And, if you have a sweet tooth, don't forget to try the Cremeschnitte (a creamy cheesecake). This cake is a designated "protected" dish of Slovenia and is indeed nice to have while you are in the Bled Castle.
Lake Bled is soulful and beautiful is the communication. A feel of the place -
